Today, meet your English speaking guide who is an expert in Champagne Wines. Once you have met your guide, he/she will go over the program and itinerary of your champagne tasting tour with you.

    Guided tour of Reims Cathedral

Listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site, 13th century Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral is one of Europe's most important Gothic structures. It is considered to be a masterpiece of Architecture and one of the most impressive Cathedrals of Northern France.

It is here that King Clovis was baptized around year 498 giving birth to the Kingdom of the Franks and starting a long lasting tradition: except two, all of the Kings of France have been crowned here! The most famous King to have been crowned here on July 17th 1429 is without a doubt Charles VII who was accompanied by Joan of Arc. The last King that was crowned in Reims  was Charles X on May 29th 1825.

Inside, admire the unique stained glass windows the most beautiful are located on the western façade including the rose window. There are also unique stained glass windows created by Marc Chagall in the central axial chapel.

Other amazing features of the Cathedral include the 15th century Gothic Organ Case as well as the wooden Astronomical Clock and a statue of Joan of Arc that dates back to the early 20th century. The Cathedral is also home to an exceptionally rich statuary – over 2 300 statues among which the famous Smiling Angel.

Visit & Wine tasting at Champagne House Veuve Clicquot (or similar)

This highly recommended visit includes product descriptions, a company history, profile of the owner, and harvest information. Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot-Muiron, the house played an important role in establishing champagne as a favored drink of Bourgeoisie and Nobility throughout Europe.

After the death of her Husband, in 1805, Barbe Nicole Ponsardin known as the widow Clicquot (veuve in French) became the first woman to take over a Champagne house. Under Madame Clicquot's guidance, the firm focused entirely on producing high rated Champagne. She will also revolutionize the techniques behind the Champagne making process.

Participate in a small group Champagne tour that will include a cellar visit. You will then have the opportunity to taste one of the best Champagnes produced in Reims. After your tasting visit, it will be time to move on and continue your Champagne day private tour.

Make your way to the Champagne producing region

Then, board your premium, air conditioned vehicle and begin to make your way to the Champagne vineyard wine producing region. Arriving in the Champagne region, you start your day with the scenic Route du Champagne. It meanders among the vineyards and picturesque villages, offering a charming bucolic landscape.

Reach the Côte des Blancs producing area for a sightseeing of some of the most famous Grandes Maisons de Champagne such as: Bollinger, Gosset, Deutz, etc. En route the countryside is enameled with beautiful Grand Cru villages like Ay, Hautvillers, Bouzy, Le Mesnil, Verzenay, etc.

Optional Champagne pairing lunch at a local property

The Foureur family have been wine growers since the 16th century and they produce Champagne under their own brand since 1875. They are located in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay. They own 4 hectares of grand cru vineyard, especially renowned for their Pinot Noir.

This allowed them to produce 20 000 bottles, mainly sold in France. Far from the commercial aspect of the Grandes Maisons, you will discover here the ancestral methods for the making process of champagne and meet passionate people.

If you select this option, you will be introduced to the art of Food & Wine pairing. On this particular tour your food will be paired with Champagne from starters to dessert. After lunch, your private champagne tour moves on to visit another family vineyard.

Visit & Champagne tasting at a family owned winery

The House was created in 1875 in the little village of Damery located in the Marne’s Valley. Laure and David are proud to be today the Fifth generation of winemakers. They are focused on the respect of both traditional and ancestral working methods.

Their champagne Plaisir d’Antan is a good example of this philosophy: made with 100% Chardonnay, this Cuvée is aged in oak barrels like it was done before the creation of stainless steel vats. This gives the Champagne a very unique taste. They work as independent winemakers with 12 hectares (30 acres) of vineyards and produce 80 000 bottles per year.

Arrive in the Champagne producing region

Your small group private tour begins with a drive through the scenic Route du Champagne. It meanders among the vineyards and picturesque villages, offering a charming bucolic landscape. We take you to the Côte des Blancs for a sightseeing of some of the most famous Grandes Maisons de Champagne such as: Bollinger, Gosset, Deutz. En route, the countryside is enameled with beautiful Grand Cru villages like Ay, Hautvillers, Bouzy, Le Mesnil, Verzenay, etc.

    Visit Epernay

Located in the heart of the Champagne region, Epernay is internationally known as the “Capital of Champagne”. Epernay’s stunning main street appears like an exhibition of opulent mansions housing the most illustrious Maisons de Champagne: Moët et Chandon, Perrier-Jouet, Mercier, Veuve Clicquot. Not to mention the 100km of tunnels under the pavement!

    Visit Hautvillers

On the way to Epernay, we take you to the Marne Valley on a journey through the vineyard to meet with another prestigious figure: Dom Perignon who finalized the process to elaborate Champagne. He highly contributed to the fame of Champagne and is now buried in the church of the former Benedictine Abbey of Hautvillers.

Visit Maison de Champagne Moet et Chandon (or similar).

Founded in 1743 by Claude Möet, it became within 40 years the first international brand in the world. Its history is linked to some famous figures such as The Marquise de Pompadour and Napoleon 1st.

This Champagne is also sold to many important historical events among which King Edwards VII’s coronation, Cannes Film Festival, the 120th anniversary of the Liberty Statue, etc. It is probably nowadays the most famous Champagne brand around the world.

Optional Champagne tasting Lunch at a local domain

The estate dates back to the French revolution and has been photographed since the harvest of 1896. Pierre developed the family vineyard just after the first world war, at the same time becoming a grape broker and Champagne wine merchant. In 1929, Pierre set up his own pressing centre and started to make wine.

In 1947 with his 2 sons Jacques and Jean-Guy he created the brand Champagne Jacquinot et Fils. The family business was set up in the Epernay cellar. Jacques looked after sales and Jean-Guy developed the vineyard which today covers 17 ha and makes wines of the highest quality. Jean-Manuel, Jean-Guy’s son, oneologist in charge of production since 1998 is now running the Estate with the help of François Nicolet, Jacques’s son-in-law.

Here participate in a commented private Champagne wine tasting. Begin with a bit of history of the property followed by a cellar visit. Finally, enjoy a commented tasting of the different range of Champagnes produced by the property.

Tour and Champagne tasting at a local Grand Cru Vineyard

Established from 1912 in Damery, in the heart of the vineyard, close to Epernay, the Champagne House J. de Telmont is one of the last familial Champagne Houses. In heritage of a winegrowers’ family, the House J. de Telmont owns 36 hectares of vineyard located in prestigious villages, where are grown the 3 grape varieties of Champagne: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. From 4 generations now, J. de Telmont is keeping up with pleasure and dynamism the Art of Welcoming guests.

Discover the Famous Town of Baden Baden

Baden Baden, a spa town, is located on the western foothills of the Black Forest, on the banks of the Oos River, in the region of Karlsruhe. During the 19th century, the town rose to become a meeting place for celebrities attracted by the hot springs, as well the luxury hotels, the horse races and the gardens of the Lichtentaler Allee. Discover this fascinating town that still retains some of the most well preserved architectural delights dating from the “Belle Epoque” period. Follow your guide on a walking tour in the city and enjoy some free time for personal discovery and lunch.

In the afternoon, depending on your preferences, you will follow the famous Badische wine route and head towards the Black Forest and follow the “Hochstrasse” to admire some of the most breathtaking landscapes of the region.

The Black Forest & the Schwartzwald Hochstrasse

The Black Forest is a wooded mountain range bordered by the Rhine valley to the west and south. The highest peak is the Feldberg with an elevation of 1,493 meters (4,898 feet). The name Black Forest comes from the general dark color of the numerous pine trees that grow in this region. Black Forest gateau and cuckoo clocks originate from this region. The Black Forest Route (Schwartzwald Hochstrasse) is the oldest, and one of the best known, themed drives in Germany. A long time ago this road was used to transport logs. Today, it is one of the most popular routes for tourists because of the beauty of its scenery, landscape, traditional villages and the breathtaking views of the mountains.

    The Badische Winestrasse

The Baden wine route stretches for 160 kilometers along the western edge of the Black Forest, from Baden-Baden in the north to Weil am Rhein in the south, and in an additional loop around the areas of Kaiserstuhl and  Tuniberg. The vineyard covers 15,500 hectares making it the 3rd largest in Germany. In Baden, red and white wines of great repute flourish.

The Blaue Spätburgunder dominates in the category of red wines, while in the category of white wines it is the Müller-Thurgau. With regard to the other varieties, each winegrower typically specialises in the regional wine: the Riesling is mostly at home in Ortenau, the Markgräflerland is the land of Gutedel and Burgunder-wines like the Ruländer (Pinot gris) and Weißburgunder (Pinot blanc) are mainly cultivated in Breisgau, Kaiserstuhl or Tuniberg.

After the tour, return to Strasbourg.

The appellation is home to some famous Grands Crus such as Corton, Corton-Charlemagne or Montrachet while other appellations have some 'climats' classified as Premiers Crus such as Aloxe-Corton, Chassagne-Montrachet, Pommard, Santenay or Volnay.

Here an effect of the light, there some attic rooms, or a private garden… They all offer those who love a cosy setting a spacious but warm haven, where they will have the magical impression that there are secrets to discover. For a unique experience in refined surroundings.

Each boutique hotel in the MGallery collection tells a unique story, inviting guests to immerse themselves in tales of adventure, romance, history, culture, nature and more for the length of a memorable stay. Discover the high points of our story here.

In the heart of the city, imagine yourself wandering around and getting lost in the corridors and passageways of a 16th century building. You may glimpse the courtyard through your window, or a statue that seems be smiling at the thought of passing time. Memories of days gone by in an inn dating from the days of Tsars and Princes.

The Rooms

The plush, elegant atmosphere of the 63 rooms and suites invites you into a dream world. Luxury, tranquillity, a contemporary chic feel... A subtle contrast between the modernity of the rooms and their setting which dates back to 1528.
