Enjoy Local Specialties and an Array of Tantalizing ChampagneCome with us on a small group Champagne tour departing from Reims and blend the historical beauty of Reims with Champagne winery visits.
09:15 AM Visit & wine tasting at Grande Maison Veuve Clicquot
You will start this exclusive Champagne tour with a morning in the main city of the region, Reims. The first stop will be the Grande Maison de Champagne Veuve Clicquot. This champagne winery was founded in 1772 and now produces the world-famous Brut Yellow Label, among other champagnes.
While at the winery, learn from your English-speaking guide how champagne is made from the grape to the bottle. Admire how champagne is then matured in cellars that have been carved and wrought centuries ago. At the end of the tour, indulge in some champagne tasting and buy your favorite bottle to bring home.
* Please be informed that according to availability Veuve Clicquot could be replaced by Mumm or Pommery on certain dates.
10:45 AM Guided tour of the Cathedral of Reims
Start with the cathedral Notre Dame de Reims, a Gothic jewel listed as a UNESCO World Heritage monument. Admire the beautiful stained glass work and revel at the rich statuary work inside the cathedral. Since the Middle Ages, the Reims cathedral was the place where the French Kings came to be crowned. All but two Kings of France were actually crowned here! Follow your accredited guide for a comprehensive visit of what is considered to be one of the most beautiful cathedrals of France.
11:30 AM Reims Mountain Grand Cru Vineyards
Then we'll leave the city and drive through the Grand Cru vineyards on the Mountain of Reims, where the Scenic Route of Champagne winds its way between fields of barley, vineyards, forests and picturesque villages such as Verzy, Verzenay and Mailly. Realm of the Pinot Noir varietal, the Mountain of Reims is known for its special "terroir" that gives Champagne much of its power and character. We'll take a tranquil, picturesque pause in such a vineyard to take it all in with our own five senses.
12:00 PM Champagne tasting lunch & Cellar Tours
In the heart of the Champagne’s Vineyards, you will be welcomed at a beautiful Champagne Grower's Family Estate. More that 4000 family winemakers contribute to the prestige of Champagne, keeping the Tradition alive from generation to generation with a common goal: the true expression of Champagne.
First, you will experience a traditional French meal with authentic ingredients which will be paired with different glasses of Champagne. Take the occasion to learn about the different kinds of Champagne : Brut non vintage, Blanc de Noirs and Rosé. This Family of Growers is a Champagne Expert in assembling Pinot Noir with Chardonnay and Meunier grapes from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vines in the Mountain of Reims.
03:00 PM The Marne Valley Vineyards
Thanks to its specific soil and subsoil, the Marne Valley landscape has been shaped for centuries with vineyards. Planted mainly with Pinot Meunier, the vineyards owe their rapid expansion to the River Marne, which was the main trading route at the time and offered good conditions for transporting the wine.
Our final stop will be at a smaller family estate. You will discover another side of the champagne making business, operating on a much smaller scale than Möet & Chandon and other big estates. Learn how champagne is traditionally made and try some vintages you have never tasted before. An authentic, small batch champagne coming straight from the Champagne region makes a great souvenir from a trip to France, or a gift that family and friends will love.

09:45 AM Tour and Champagne tasting at Taittinger*
Located in the great regions of wine-growing Champagne, the Champagne Taittinger vines cover 288 hectares evenly distributed over 34 different vineyards, which include some of the appellation’s finest. With varietals consisting of 50% Pinot Noir, 15% Pinot Meunier and 35% Chardonnay, the Taittinger vineyard is an unsurpassed example of that House’s own style of wine, in which Chardonnay plays such a significant role. The vineyard’s own production is supplemented by contractual acquisition of grapes from independent suppliers operating the finest vineyards in Champagne.
Your Champagne day experience will start at the Taittinger vineyard and winery in Reims. There, you will discover the centuries-old cellars where one of the finest French champagnes is matured for several years before being consumed. Millions of bottles are resting 18 meters below the ground surface where the perfect temperature of 12° Celsius is achieved, spread along 3km of tunnels. You will also be able to taste and purchase several champagne batches from different years.
However, a visit to the Taittinger estate is much more than just champagne. Indeed, the estate is also home to the remnants of the Saint Nicaise Abbey, which was built by monks in the 13th century. This takes us back to the religious history of the city of Reims and reminds us that wine making was mainly started by monks in the region. In addition, the Taittinger estate is also home to chalk quarries dating back from the 4th century and the Roman empire. The quarries are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage monument.
*(Visit included: L’Instant Premier with one glass of Champagne)
11:00 AM Sightseeing of the city of Reims: Grandes Maisons de Champagne, Cathedral…
After the Taittinger champagne tasting, this small group Champagne tour will make a break from drinking and take you for a visit of the city of Reims. We'll drive through the bustling streets of Reims to show you some famous Champagne Houses.
Next stop will be the cathedral Notre Dame de Reims, a Gothic jewel listed as a UNESCO World Heritage monument. Admire the beautiful stained glass work and revel at the rich statuary work inside the cathedral. Since the Middle Ages, the Reims cathedral was the place where the French Kings came to be crowned. All but two Kings of France were actually crowned here!
12:30 PM Hautvillers sightseeing
The next place you will see on this champagne tour is the village of Hautvillers, where the Benedictine monk Dom Pérignon is buried. In the Middle Ages, Dom Pérignon helped finalize the development of a new wine product that would later become champagne. As a tribute, one of the best champagnes in the world is now named after him.
01:00 PM Lunch at your leisure in Epernay - The Capital of Champagne
Sightseeing of Avenue de Champagne in Epernay

Today, it is still one of the most important champagne brands in the world, and you will have the opportunity to find out why.
03:00 PM Guided tour and tasting at world famous Grande Maison de Champagne Moët & Chandon*
Finally, end your Champagne tour with a stop at the world-famous Moët & Chandon winery, where you will be able to taste different kinds of champagnes. Stroll through the historic cellars where champagne has been ageing for centuries. Moët & Chandon is not new in the game, as it was already loved by Napoléon I and the Marquise de Pompadour who was the official chief mistress of King Louis XV. Today, the brand is one of the most distributed in the world and is heavily consumed at international events such as the Cannes Film Festival.
