Continuing our journey, we visit the solemn Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery. Here lie the brave soldiers of the 3rd Canadian Division who made the ultimate sacrifice during the early days of the advance towards Caen. Designed by P.D. Hepworth, this beautifully landscaped cemetery holds 2,048 Second World War burials, mostly Canadian, including 19 unidentified. Marvel at the meticulously maintained memorial cared for by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Learn the Tragic Tale of Ardenne Abbey Massacre
At the poignant Abbaye d'Ardenne, we recount the tragic events that unfolded when Waffen SS forces executed twenty Canadian soldiers from the North Nova Scotia Highlanders and the 27th Armored Regiment. This somber monastery near Caen serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made during the war. Explore the site, where the Regina Rifles eventually liberated the abbey, and pay respects to those who lost their lives.

Yes, absolutely. We will come and pick you up either at the train station if you are arriving from Paris or at any accommodation, hotel or AirBnB in Bayeux. We can also pick you up in the surrounding area of Bayeux at a 30 kms (20 miles) radius. -

Where is Juno Beach in France?
Juno or Juno Beach in Normandy, France is among the five landing areas of the Normandy Invasion that took place on June 6, 1944. This particular area was assaulted by units of the Canadian 3rd Infantry Division. The landing beach was approximately 10. kilometers (6 miles) wide and stretched on either side of the small port of Courseulles sur Mer. The villages is located at a 30 minute driver from the town of Bayeux which makes a perfect starting point for all our Normandy sightseeing day trips from Bayeux. -
Why was Juno Beach important to Canada?
Juno or Juno Beach in Normandy, France is important to Canada because this is where units of the 3rd Infantry Division landed on Normandy Invasion Day. The Canadian landings were one of the most successful operations carried out on D-DAY. However, the Canadian Armed Forces suffered heavy casualties in the first wave but by the end of the day were able to control the area from defending German Troops. The number of Canadian casualties was of 1,200 out of 21,400 troops who landed at Juno that day. -
