Today, we will come and pick you up at your accommodation in Nice. Meet your English speaking tour guide who will go over the itinerary and program of the day with you. Then, board your premium A/C vehicle and begin your private tour. Start to make your way to French Riviera and the principality of Monaco.
Visit the village of Eze
Hanging over the Sea, the Medieval village of Eze has retained all its charms throughout the centuries. From the ruins of its medieval fortress to its charming, narrow streets, the small village now attracts a multitude of artisans and artists.
Established in what used to be barns or sheepfolds, they definitely contribute to the local ambiance of this peaceful area. Celebrated for the calm that can be found here, numerous writers have also decided to settle down here, one of the most famous being Nietzsche who it is said to have written Thus Spoke Zarathustra in Eze. Visit the village and then discover the Fragonard perfume factory.
Optional visit of a Perfume factory
The famous perfume company Fragonard was established in 1926 by Eugène Fuchs who named his company after the 18th c. French Painter and to pay homage to the town of Grass (the French capital of perfumes) for having greeted the famed painter and his family.
During the visit, discover the manufacturing secrets of the products on a guided tour: perfumes, soaps and cosmetics developed from the best raw materials using an expertise which combines traditional methods and modern techniques.
A bit of History about Monaco
Historically, Monaco was part of France, but in 1215, it became a colony of Genoa (Italy) through a land grant from Emperor Henry VI. The Grimaldi family settled in Monaco in 1297 and ancestors of the family have controlled the principality for over 715 years now.
In 1419, the Grimaldi family acquired Monaco from the French ruling family of Aragon. Monaco has since been under Spanish, Italian and Sardinian protection. In 1793, French revolutionary troops captured Monaco, keeping it until 1814, when the Grimaldi family returned to power. Today, Monaco is governed by a constitutional monarchy, but is a protectorate of France.
In 1949, Prince Rainier III ascended to the throne of Monaco and married the beautiful American actress, Grace Kelly in 1956. Prince Rainier III played an important role in bringing economic prosperity to the area and his wife played a large part in promoting the arts and bringing glamour to the small nation. Together, they had three children, Caroline, Albert and Stephanie.
Reach Monaco
After the visit of Eze, head towards Monaco and walk in the small streets of the old town. Your tour of Monaco will include the changing of the Guards that takes place just before midday (on the morning tour). You will also have the possibility of visiting the Neo Romanesque Cathedral as well as the Memorial dedicated to Princess Grace & Rainier of Monaco.
End the tour in Monte Carlo
Finally, end the tour in Monte-Carlo. Here you will discover the famous Old Monte Carlo Casino, the Hotel de Paris and Café de Paris, the beautiful Gardens not forgetting the Deluxe Boutiques. Upon arrival or departure, you will also have the opportunity to drive on the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix race track. The drive back to Nice will also include the famous low coastal road.Read moreRead less -
