Embark on a vibrant Private Shore Excursion from Toulon Port City to Visit Sanary, Bandol & Le Castellet villages

Today, we will come and pick you up directly at your ship in Toulon or La Seyne Sur Mer Ports of Call. Meet your English speaking driver/guide who will go over the itinerary and program of this private half-day tour with you. Then begin your walking tour in Sanary Sur Mer. After the visit, your private tour will take you to the charming village of Bandol. Finally, reach Le Castellet village before returning to your ship.

Begin your tour with the Visit of Sanary Sur Mer
Your visit to Sanary-sur-Mer will start in the pretty harbor, lined with palm trees and pastel-colored houses, with a stroll along the waterfront. This harbor is the center of activity in the town and a lovely place for your promenade. Along the way, you will notice colorful small boats that are locally known as ‘points’. There are 100 traditional fishing boats here with some being more than 100 years old while others are listed as historic monuments.

The port still retains an active fishing fleet and you can buy fresh fish at the local market each morning. Among the buildings that line the port admire the Church of Saint-Nazaire, built in the center of Sanary-sur-Mer in the 19th century on the site of an earlier church. The building has an interesting Byzantine style facade, and inside you can see various orthodox christian frescoes – these are beautiful paintings, large and colorful, so make sure you go in for a look – as well as an imposing organ.

You will also see the square 13th-century tower (behind the Hotel de la Tour at the end of the port) that was once part of an important defensive system for the town – it was around this tower that the village originally developed in the middle ages.

Then reach the village of Bandol
After your exploration of Sanary, you will continue heading to another typical fishing port named Bandol. It is a popular coastal town and wine-growing region in the western part of the Cote d’Azur. Your visit to Bandol will start with a promenade around the harbor with some lovely pastel-painted houses.

The center of the traditional village of Bandol is located Place de l’Europe immediately behind the promenade. This large square is actually a series of three squares separated by raised terraces where a large fountain, shady plane trees, and lively cafes can be found. Your tour guide will certainly point the stunning view across the harbor. This is also a perfect area to experience a Bandol Wine Tasting session.

At the top of the square is one of the most important historic monuments in Bandol, the Church Saint-Francois de Sales. The streets around the square are also interesting to explore with a surprise around every corner, for example, an ancient fountain, a tiny ancient house, and flower boxes or a grand Belle Epoque villa.

End the tour in Le Castellet
Finally, finish your tour by a shortstop in the hilltop village of Le Castellet. This superb little feudal village perched on the tip of its promontory will enchant you with its typical Provencal picturesque setting.

You can enter Le Castellet via 2 fortified gateways then just let yourself wander along the small streets, past the potter’s and the leather craftsman’s workshops, the perfumed candles, ceramics, and jewelry alongside the art galleries and ice-cream sellers. After your tour, you will be driven back to your cruise ship.
