Provence Lavender Full Day Tour

Wander into the lavender fields and take in the wonders of Provence on this full day Provence tour!

In the morning, your driver will pick you up at the meeting point in Aix en Provence. From there, he will take you straight to the Valensole Plateau to begin your full day tour of Provence for lavender fields and great photo stops. Valensole itself is one of those small charming beautiful hilltop villages of the region and is considered to be one of the capitals of lavender. The real treat around here though is the hundreds of square kilometers on the dry stone plateau around Valensole covered in lavender fields, one of Provence’s most iconic plants. Everyone loves the fragrance of lavender, and it can be used for many purposes such as cooking, as an air and linen freshener, in soaps or creams.

After the lavender fields, your Provence tour will take you to a traditional Provence market.

Mainly food stuff is sold and you will be able to find the freshest meat, fish, bread, fruit and vegetables there. Take this occasion to try some of the local products like olives or pan bagnat. We won’t tell you what this last one is… you will have to try it for yourself! Your guide will also explain to you how to choose quality produce and which Provence recipes you can make with them. Some prepared specialties can also be found on the markets. One of them is tapenade, made with pureed olives, capers and olive oil. It tastes delicious on a piece of bread! Other specialties include calissons, a candy made of candied fruit and almonds.

As you continue to travel, you will have the joy of seeing and stopping at other traditional beautiful villages of Provence such as Moustiers Sainte Marie where you will enjoy some free time for lunch. We will then take you along the roads of the Verdon Canyon for fantastic panoramic views. Your last visit will be at the Occitane de Provence Museum where you will be introduced to the making of essential oils and natural cosmetics.

After the visit we will drive back to Aix en Provence and that will be the end of our services. Our other day trips from Aix en Provence that include the lavender museum in coustellet, Sault, Senanque Abbey and the Luberon are another option. We also provide great tours to local villages such as the renowned village of Gordes or Saint Rémy de Provence.
