Are you looking for a great Normandy tour from Bayeux? Then look no further and be prepared to taste your way through the flavors of Normandy!

Cheese and cider are two of the most loved culinary specialties coming from Normandy. Camembert is one of those Normandy cheeses and is one of the most eaten in France. It is soft, moist, creamy and truly delicious in our opinion. It was created in the 18th century and is made from unpasteurized cow’s milk. Today, however, production has mostly industrialized and manufacturers have preferred to switch to pasteurized milk for food safety reasons, as well as to be compliant for export.

This tour takes you away from the crowded Normandy tourist sites and into the true traditions of the Normandy region. Our Normandy day tour from Bayeux will first take you to one of the last traditional Camembert making farms in the region. There, accompanied with one of our friendly English-speaking guides, you will be able to learn about the history and the techniques of Camembert making. Of course, tasting samples will be provided!

By the time lunch time comes, you will have the option to experience a homemade meal in true Normandy fashion
Expect apples, cheese and cream to be on the menu. If you do not wish to join the lunch, you can also decide to get your own at a local restaurant recommended by our expert guide.

Once you have been well fed, this tour of Normandy from Bayeux will switch to a different topic: apples. The locals have made apples one of their symbols. History says apples arrived in France during the Crusades and the best, sweetest varieties went to Normandy. Quickly, Normandy became the most important orchard in the country, with apples growing under the care of monks in the numerous monasteries found in the region.

Thanks to these large cultures, beer was replaced by a new alcoholic beverage made from apples in the 18th century, which is of course cider
Our gourmet tasting day tour will take you to a modern brewery where you will learn how cider is produced. At the end, you will be able to sample and taste different varieties of cider. You will also have the possibility to purchase your favorite one and bring it back home

Yet, in Normandy, people do not only make cider with their apples. Calvados is a stronger alcohol that could be compared to brandy. It is distilled from cider and can greatly vary in taste depending on the type of apples that have been used to produce it. Local producers will show around calvados production facilities and will of course let you try some of their best products.

This full day Normandy tour from Bayeux departs from the city Centre in the morning and will drop you off at the same location in the evening.
