A Full Day Showcasing the Best of the Alsace
If you are staying a few days in Colmar, discover the highlights of Alsace on this full day small group shared day trip. At first, we will come and pick you up at a dedicated meeting point in Colmar. You will then meet your English speaking driver/guide who will introduce you to the itinerary of the day. Your day trip from Colmar will start with the visit of the small town of Turckheim. The village is a perfect starting point for a full day tour as it is a traditional Alsatian village visited by fewer tourists.
Throughout the centre of Turckheim, there are plenty of traditional Alsace style houses to admire, overflowing with flowers, and a few specific buildings of interest mostly dating from the 16th and 17th century. These include the town hall, the hospital and the guard house. As you follow your tour guide, admire the most notable features such as the fortifications and the three original gateways that surround the old town. While these defenses are common in some parts of France they are very unusual in the Alsace region.
Your Alsace sightseeing tour then continues onto the beautiful town of Riquewihr. Surrounded by ramparts, the village has been very fortunate to survive war and destruction. Its tiny streets, fortified walls and old houses have preserved their 16C splendor and remained virtually intact, making for remarkable architectural harmony. Enjoy free time for personal discovery and lunch.
Following a Stop for Lunch, Follow the Breathtaking Alsace ‘Wine Route’ and Visit a Mighty Castle
Located between the Rhine Valley and the Vosges mountain range, the 60 year old Alsace Wine Route winds across the slopes for more than 170 kms. The itinerary leads across rows of undulating, vine covered hills, and through beautiful villages with narrow streets and charming flower decked houses clustered around the local church steeple. The area is also dotted with medieval castles. As you stop in one of these villages, experience a wine tasting session during which you will be introduced to the local wines. Alsace white wines are famous all over France. Alsace wines are Varietal wines, the most famous grapes include Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris or Sylvaner.
Finally, reach Haut Koenigsbourg Castle. Here, follow your guide for a tour of this mighty fortress that overlooks the valley. Built in the 12th century, the castle occupied a strategic position controlling the wine and wheat routes to the north and the salt route that came from the east. After your visit and a short time to explore on your own, we will return to our meeting point and if time permits we highly recommend that you visit Colmar. We also organise this day trip from Strasbourg.

Great wine tasting trip – A tour through beautiful country with a knowledgeable tour leader to visit wineries. Each winery had a range of tastings and a good discourse on the growing of the grape and the wine produced.
Great experience and a lovely guide – With our very nice guide Daniele, a very well mixed group of members and some amazing wines, this trip was totally worth it.
Don’t miss this tour!! – We had a great time on the Alsace wine route tour. Flo was very friendly, warm and entertaining! We all fell in love with the picturesque little villages along the way and of course the wine was spectacular!
Great morning winetasting – We had a great time visiting two wineries in a morning, as well as driving through the Alsace countryside and having some time to explore the small towns. Great guide too.
Wonderful Trip! – Our guide Bridgette and the tour was wonderful and a perfect amount of time (and wine)! We loved seeing little towns and sampling some of Alsace’s finest wines! Memories of a lifetime!
