Get to Know the Dordogne on This Perfect Mix of Experiences

Departing from the beautiful town of Sarlat, your daily excursions will lead you to the most significant attractions. Follow your guide on this small group tour and visit one of the most well preserved 17th century town during its bustling market day. You will also experience a unique visit at Lascaux IV cave that will plunge you back to the origins of Art. The tour also includes the visit of some of the most beautiful villages of the area as well as a boat ride on the River Dordogne so as to admire stunning landscapes and mighty medieval fortresses lined up along the River.

Day 1 > SARLAT GOURMET TOUR / VILLAGES VISIT / DORDOGNE BOAT RIDE

In the morning, follow a guided walking tour of historic Sarlat, a rich  merchant town of the 18th century. Today is market day, so follow your guide through the winding streets of this beautiful town and stop on the way to taste some local delicacies. Then reach the small village of Domme. Enjoy a walking tour and some free time for personal discovery. Then we drive to the beautiful village of La Roque Gageac where you will depart on a boat ride on the River Dordogne. Finally, we head to Beynac where you will admire a truly spectacular view and one of the most impressive medieval castles of the Dordogne. Day 2 > PALEOLITHIC ART OF THE DORDOGNE FULL DAY

Some 15,000 years B.C. unknown painters created breath taking cave paintings of which the most extraordinary examples are found in the Dordogne area. During this day enjoy some time in Les Eyzies and follow your guide on a commented visit of the National Prehistory Museum. Continue to Rouffignac Cave that possesses original and authentic engravings dating back to the late Magdalenian. Finally, visit of Lascaux IV Parietal Museum, that houses different set designs, displays, state of the art technology and interactive workshops, as well as immersive technology. You will of course have the opportunity to visit the famous Lascaux cave replica, a perfect reproduction of the original one.

Day 3 > ROCAMADOUR MORNING VISIT

In the morning, depart for the pilgrimage and fortress village of Rocamadour that has attracted visitors for its setting in a gorge above a tributary of the River Dordogne. The village is renowned for its historical monuments and its sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which for centuries has brought pilgrims from every country, among them kings, bishops, and nobles. Here, follow your guide and visit the renowned Notre Dame Chapel, part of an extraordinary 13th-century chapel complex perched on a cliff and one of the most dramatic pilgrimage sites in Europe. Enjoy some free time for personal discovery and return to Sarlat. Afternoon in Sarlat is free for you to enjoy. Return to Sarlat. End of our services.
