A Small Group Full Day Tour From central Paris to the Chablis Wine Producing region and Burgundy.

Burgundy region of France is one of the most prolific when it comes to history. One usually needs time to explore the Castles, villages, churches, and abbeys and of course its world famous vineyards. On this full day private tour to Burgundy from Paris we will first take you to the amazing Vezelay Basilica, a Unesco World Heritage Site, for a guided visit. Then, the rest of the day will be organized as an introduction to the local terroirs, burgundy grape varieties and of course Chablis wines. There are no red wines produced in this area.

In the morning, we will come and pick you up at your accommodation in Paris city center. Meet your English Speaking guide/driver who will introduce the program of the day and confirm the itinerary with you. Then board our air conditioned vehicle and begin your drive towards Burgundy. The drive from Paris to Vezelay is just over 2 hours and a half so please be ready for this. On the way, your guide will talk about the region and destination.

Arrive in Vezelay
Our first stop of the day is to visit the stunning Vezelay Abbey. Built at the end of the village, this Romanesque style Abbey, dominated by a very high Bell Tower, is famous for its unique tympanum located above the central doorway. The Capitals of the Nave, that date back to the 12th century, are among the most beautiful sculptures of the time. After the visit and some free time, we will take you to the village of Chablis.

Arrive in Chablis
The town of Chablis is one of those small French towns that has retained numerous buildings that date back to medieval times. The village is also the Gateway to the Wine Region that bears the same name and is coined the “Golden Gateway of Burgundy”. Upon arrival, it will be time for lunch. Your guide will make the appropriate suggestions depending on your wishes and budget.

The Chablis Wine Producing Region
The Wines of Chablis are some of the most famed white wines of France. There are four different appellations that make up the Chablis region: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru and finally Chablis Grand Cru. All Chablis wines are made from only one varietal grape: Chardonnay. Chardonnay is a grape that is also famous in the USA due to the epic history of the Paris Tasting in 1976. These famous white wines are known for their crispness, minerality and sophistication. In the afternoon, we will take you to 2 local wineries of the Chablis region. On this Chablis Wine Tour, you will visit the wine cellars and participate in a commented tasting session. It will also be the perfect time to find out about french wine labels, terroirs and the art of wine & cheese pairing.

After the visit of the 2 wineries, return to Paris and end of our services.
