Aix-en-Provence Gourmet Walking Tour

Experience the gourmet flavours of the Provence region during this half-day Provence gourmet tour.
Are you ready to discover one of the most beautiful cities in the south of France, while tasting some of the best food in the world? Then this Provence gourmet walking tour is made for you! In the morning, your guide will pick you up in a pre-arranged location. You will get started in the historical centre of Aix en Provence.

The first stop will be Place Richelme, where a daily market is held since 1360.

Mainly food stuff is sold and you will be able to find the freshest meat, fish, bread, fruit and vegetables there. Take this occasion to try some of the local products like olives or pan bagnat. We won’t tell you what this last one is… you will have to try it for yourself! Your guide will also explain to you how to choose quality produce and which Provence recipes you can make with them.

Depending on the day of the week, you may see other markets within the city.

There again, make sure to try out local tomatoes, strawberries or zucchini, all harvested in the morning. Fresh cheeses are also made in the Provence region, and especially goat’s cheese.
Some prepared specialties can also be found on the markets. One of them is tapenade, made with pureed olives, capers and olive oil. It tastes delicious on a piece of bread! Other specialties include calissons, a candy made of candied fruit and almonds.

During our Provence gourmet walking tour, we will stop in a traditional roastery for a coffee break.
