Meet Your Knowledgeable Local Tour Guide
Upon arrival, your friendly English-speaking driver guide will warmly welcome you with a sign displaying the tour name and the Ophorus logo. To ensure easy recognition, all our guides also wear nominative badges, making it effortless to find them.
Once you've met your guide, they will provide a comprehensive overview of the program and itinerary for this full-day tour from Strasbourg. Climb aboard our comfortable, air-conditioned Mercedes minivan and relax as we begin our journey to the stunning Black Forest region. Travel in comfort and enjoy informative commentary as all our vehicles are equipped with an onboard P/A system, allowing everyone to hear the guide's insightful commentary during the drive, even if seated in the back of the van.
Visit the Charming Spa Town of Baden-Baden
Crossing the nearby border into Germany, we leave the Grand Est region and enter the state of Baden-Württemberg, where the magnificent Black Forest awaits. Known for its dense pine trees and captivating landscapes, this mountain range is bordered by the Rhine Valley to the west and south, with its highest peak, Feldberg, reaching an impressive elevation of 1,493 meters (4,898 feet). Discover the origin of the famous Black Forest gateau and cuckoo clocks, which have become synonymous with the region.
Our first stop is the elegant town of Baden-Baden, nestled at the foot of the Black Forest. With a rich history of attracting royalty, the wealthy, and celebrities, Baden-Baden exudes charm. Follow a guided walking tour and marvel at the architectural splendors and magnificent villas lining the picturesque Lichtentaler Allee. Then, enjoy breathtaking views of the Upper Rhine Valley and the Vosges mountain range in the distance as we traverse the scenic Schwarzwaldhochstrasse, with its numerous viewpoints and belvederes.
Discover the Beauty of Mummelsee Lake
Next, we arrive at the enchanting Mummelsee Lake, where you'll have free time to explore and indulge in a delicious lunch. With its impressive circumference of 800 meters, a depth of 17 meters, and an elevation of 1,036 meters, Mummelsee is the largest, deepest, and highest of the seven cirque lakes. Don't miss the opportunity to savor local delicacies like cured meats or the world-famous Black Forest cake, leaving your taste buds satisfied!
Follow the Scenic Badische Weinstrasse on the Return Journey
After lunch, our tour continues along the picturesque wine route of the Badische Weinstrasse, renowned as the longest wine route in Germany, spanning over 500 kilometers. Admire charming small towns, picturesque villages, breathtaking landscapes, and impressive castles that dot the route. Your guide will make strategic stops for fantastic photo opportunities, including the village of Sasbachwalden.
This beautifully maintained village, nestled in vineyards, has earned recognition for winning the prestigious 'flowering of the villages' national exam. Take a leisurely stroll through the streets and marvel at the stunning flower-decked half-timbered houses. After this delightful stop, we'll return to Strasbourg, concluding our memorable journey through the captivating Black Forest region.
