SCHEDULED TOURS


What is a scheduled tour?
A scheduled tour is a programmed tour with fixed itinerary and visits and that has grouped individual travelers together. The price is per person.   - top -

How many persons are there per group/tour?
Tours are for 8 persons maximum.   - top -

Do you pick up at hotels or is there a pick up point
All our scheduled tours have a precise departure location that is mentioned on your voucher in each city.   - top -

What happens if we do not find the meeting point?
You have to be at the meeting point at least 10 minutes prior to tour departure. If you are having difficulties finding the meeting point you must call us on our emergency number +33 6 33 051 009 so that we may help you find the exact area. Please note that tours leave on time and if you are not there at the designated area and indicated time the driver/guide will leave. What type of vehicles are used for the tours, do they have A/C and other equipment?
Our company uses only Mercedes Vito or Viano 8 seater minivans that are recent, comfortable and fully equipped including individual A/C, shaded windows, large leg space and on board P/A system for commentaries by the guide.   - top -

Who conducts the tours?
We only employ accredited and licensed tour guides that are also the drivers. This means that all our guides can conduct visits in Museums, monuments and in historical city centers. Good examples are: the visit of museums, guided walking tours in cities, visit of historical monuments and so on...   - top -

During a wine tour, can we choose which wineries we would like to visit on a scheduled tour?
No, a scheduled tour is pre-programmed and the wineries have already been (carefully) selected.   - top -

Are the winery tours private?
During our scheduled tours the visits at the wineries are not private and you may find yourself being grouped with others. However, Ophorus tours are always in English during the tours or at the wineries. Unlike other providers we refuse to mix languages.   - top -

How many wines are served in the Chateaus or wineries?
In Bordeaux, the chateau's serve 1 to 3 wines during the tasting session. It is always the wine produced by the chateau usually the first and second wine of the estate. In Strasbourg, usually the wine growers serve 4 to 7 different wines depending on the group size and time.   - top -

Can I buy wine in the Chateaus?
Unlike in many other wine countries, it is very often not possible to buy wines in the Chateaus.   - top -

Can I drink wine on board the minivans?
By French law, it is strictly forbidden to drink alcoholic beverages on board the minivans. It is also strictly forbidden to smoke and we strongly advise clients not to eat or drink on board.   - top -

Are entrance fees included during scheduled tours?
Yes, all the entrance fees for visits mentioned in the itinerary during our scheduled tours are included.   - top -

Are meals included during the full day tours?
No, we never include any meals but your driver/guide will point out different options for you to choose from for lunch.   - top -

What is a private tour?
A private tour is a customized tour just for you and your party.   - top -

Do you organize pick up and return at hotel for private tours?
Yes, all private tours include a pick up and drop off at requested location - hotel, airport, train station...   - top -

Is the price per person or per group?
All private tours are priced per group and not per person.   - top -

What is included?
Private tours include transportation and the services of an English speaking accredited licensed guide who is also your driver. We never include entrance fees to monuments, museums, attractions, meals, drinks, wine tasting fees.   - top -

What type of vehicles are used during a private tour?
Our company only uses Mercedes minivans that can take up to 8 passengers.   - top -

Who conducts the tours?
All our tours are conducted by accredited licensed tour guides that will also be your driver.   - top -

For wine tours, can we choose which winery we would like to visit?
Yes, it is possible to send us a list of the wineries you would like to visit but reservations in the chateaus depend on availability at time of booking.   - top -

Are the visits private in the chateaus?
The visits are not private in that you may be grouped with other persons. It is possible to privatize the visits but this will induce an extra cost. A private visit of a chateau must be requested at time of booking or you will be booked on the grouped visit.   - top -

How many wineries can be visited per day?
Typically, we include the visit of 2 wineries during a half day tour and 3 or 4 wineries during a full day tour.   - top -

How much does a visit and wine tasting session cost?
The cost depends on the wineries. For grouped visits the prices range from 5€ to 20€ per person per chateau. For private visits the prices range from 10€ to 50€ per person per chateau.   - top -

Is it possible to visit the 1er Grand Cru Classé wineries in the Médoc wine region (Margaux, Latour, Mouton, Lafite, Haut Brion)?
For the moment (end of 2012) both Haut-Brion and Mouton are closed for renovations. Latour only provides tours to professionals of the wine industry.
For Lafite and Margaux it is possible to organise a visit but requests must be made months in advance as visits and numbers are limited.   - top -

Do you include lunch during private tours?
No, we never include meals during our private tours. Restaurant reservations can be arranged when upon request.   - top -


SHORE EXCURSIONS


What is a shore excursion?
Shore excursions are day tours that are organized specifically for cruise ship passengers that are stopping over in Bordeaux, Bassens or Le Verdon ports of Call.   - top -

Where do the cruise ships dock?
There are 3 possibilities: In Bordeaux, close to the city center. In Bassens, on the opposite side of the city center of Bordeaux. In Le Verdon a port located at about a 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive from Bordeaux.   - top -

Where does the pickup take place?
We pick you up directly at your ship, as close as security will allow us to go. Return is also at ship unless you have specified a location during the booking procedure.   - top -

Is the tour private or scheduled?
All our shore excursions are private. It means that we will customize and book a tour for a lead traveler who can travel with family and/or friends or even 'create' his own group through cruise or travel forums.   - top -

Is the price per person or per group?
The prices for our shore excursions are always per group and not per person.   - top -

What is included in the price?
